This is the shelter where most of CTDR's dogs come from. Grim, huh? Our very own Thor came from here, as well as Dash, Bonnie, Clyde, and several other fosters I have had!

Wow, what an article - and in the New York Times, yet! What a surprise. Yes, it's grim, but there's a glimmer of hope, too. Thanks for posting.
Very sad to hear how many cannot be saved, but there is hope, breed rescue is in there helping, and people do care. The drop off boxes are both good and bad. Better than turning a dog loose on the highway where it might get hit and killed--but it lets the humans not be accountable for abandoning the dog.
That was quite an article, I almost didn't finish it b/c the of the amount of dogs/cats that don't make it out. It looks like a concentration camp. I did enjoy the story and video of Olive at least she has a happy ending.

And actually the numbers are wrong. The shelter takes in 25,000 animals per year and euthanizes 14,000. :sosad:
My friend just adopted the sweetest dog from Town Lake Animal shelter!!!! I want to go down there and volunteer, but I know I would either cry the entire time I was there, or come home with way too many critters!!!
