I went to pick her up at 5:30 pm. The Vet (Dr. White) brought her out to me. She wagged her little tail and the Vet had a huge smile on his face.

He showed me the Xrays. They were not bad at all! The spaces between her bones on her spine are a little close together (the 10th, 11th and 12th) but nothing to be alarmed about.
I was given Prednisone for her. She gets 1-1/2 tablets twice a day for 7 days. Then gets 1-1/2 tablets once a day for 7 days, then 1-1/2 tablets every other day for 7 days. She is also to take 1/4 of a tablet of Pepcid AC everyday.

Her blood work came back Negative (All Good!)
She had her Anal Glands expressed.
She is negative for UTI.

We cannot take her for walks until February 5th. We can only take her outside to a spot to eliminate.

He told me that she will be more thirsty than usual and get this.....her appetite will increase  She is on a DIET NOW! She must lose 4 pounds!

I am so VERY HAPPY! :penguins: :sausage: :snoopy:

Thank you ALL for the :bigrayz: :bigrayz: and :pray:ers

I"m so happy for you, Janet. I had a dog with about the same pronosis. She was 14 when she had her first back problems and came through it fine. She lived for another 2 years and died of causes unrelated to her back. I'm sure that Sophie will do fine.

Sophie's Home!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

yay that is fabulous. Glad I brought the laptop home!! So did he say what the problem is/was? Sopher would not just squeal for funsies...

Prednisone is a wonderful wonderful thing. I think it really helped Duchie. Her Xrays are not just right either but like you said, nothing to be alarmed about.

Welcome home, Sophie Sue.... no more scaring mommy and daddy.

Whew, though the next few weeks will not be fun--I know since Tasha has been thru that twice, though just painkillers, no pred. :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: for poor Sophie on a diet and with a bad back. And :bighug: for her mom! Overall this is great.

But no more candied apples, KFC, spaghetti.......

How is Mr Fattypants doing with his weight loss program? Did you see in my other post that my Fat Bottom Girl is now down to a svelte and trim 11.8 lbs? I about fell out when I saw it on the scales today- weighed her twice to be sure. She had gotten up to 14.8 and then I think a little more.. too much. She is a new pupper with the weight loss and the glucosamine/chondroitin. My ten year old mill mama gal is actually dare I say...frisky!!

I have had to re-nickname her Skini Mini.

AND - is she no longer a tweenie since she is smaller?

Oh that's fantastic news Janet. Very happy for you. Now is the time for some tough love. Just add some pumpkin to her meals. Green beans work great too to fill them up.

FANTASTIC The news makes me want to

Now remember he comes the hard part. TOUGH LOVE and do not let her out or do anything she should not do.
I know you are giving her antacids but watch for sign of tummy irritations.

Oh Janet, that's great news!! Now you go hug your puppers and get some sleep tonight!!:cheer2:

P.S. Rae, I think if Duchie is over 11lb and at a healthy weight, she is still classified as a tweenie. I think mini is 11lb or less for adult weight (the Cass-Monster is 10.9lb).

Thats wonderful news. Gunner was on Prednisone for a week when he got hives from a bee sting and he ate and drank constantly. Once he was off it he was backto normal eating. I think if she can loose some weight she will be fine with her back. Petunia has to loose a few pounds also.

She already gets pumpkin and green beans or other veggies with her evening dinner!:rotfl:
She has not stopped whining for food since she got home! I was telling Lisa that I will need to eat my dinners in the bathroom. But they can still nudge the door open!

Hmmmmmmmm.......

DEFINITELY NOT!!!!!!!!

BTW It was Mr. IRON GUT (Casey) that had the spaghetti, not Sophie. She was a little upset with that!

My mom actually did that! She was trying not to tempt Chilli with food, so I was calling her one time and she was eating an banana in the BATHROOM. :faint: Talk about things you would do for your pet.
