Well,
We have crowned a new Piddler in our House! Miss Sophie!
I know that the medication she is on is making her Piddle more than usual. But at least Give me a sign that you need to go! Last night, not once but twice she piddled on my carpet. Not the same carpet but 2 different ones.(okay area rugs but they are still carpeting).:conf4:
She just stretched and piddled. Right in front of me:shocked: I guess this is what I am in for as I did not share my dinner with her last night. Brett got home from work at 10:40 pm, had a little snack...didn't share with the Sopher....she piddled!
I take her out every 2 hours to do her business! GRRRRRRRRR!
How is Otto doing? Bet he isn't piddlin' everywhere cuz he is an :angel7:

Poor Sophie!
I'm sure once she is off her med's this will not be a problem?

Perhaps till she of the meds, you could roll up your area rugs to prevent their total destruction. We did that when we got our crew. It's been 2 years without any rugs for us. The only rugs I have are the bathroom ones that I can throw in a washer.

I didn't have that problem with Gunner when he was on prednisone I leave pee pads out but he sure wanted to eat all day long. She will be ok once she is off the medication, just remember not to feed her table scrabs.

Poor Sophie, the Piddler! :sosad: I second the taking up the rugs. I only have washable rugs in the bedroom and bath (where the dogs stay during the day) because between Miss Sweetums not always going outside to go and Amanda being partially incontinent it just wasn't practical anymore.

The thing that really botheres me is......I have pee pee pads in the kitchen and living room! She used the pee pee pad Tuesday night, but not last night. When I scolded her (yelled) "as she was tinkling" she didn't stop until she was finished.
She gets NO table scraps or tid bits! I think she is Rebelling!!!!

It does sound like she is rebeling cause of you not giving her table scraps:rotfl: . Gunner gained weight rabidly when he was on the pred. he would just eat and drink all the time. At the time I left his bowl out for him cause he doesn't eat a lot but boy did he scarf food down at the time. Once he was off the pred he lost the weight.

:soapbox: Try to focus on how overjoyed you are to have her home, safe, and on the road to recovery.... piddling in the floor is not the end of the world, just the end of the rug! :loveu:
I think Sophie is mad about not getting to share food anymore! Yes, take up the rugs, put down more pee pads, and hope everything goes back to normal once she's off the meds!

It IS hard for them to control urine while on steroids... both my cockers had trouble and neither of them ever went in the house when not on prednisone. It is too bad she won't use the puppy pads though! Other than tying a puppy pad around her business end at all times :D , I would say your best bet is to eliminate all rugs and watch her closely. I would also monitor her water intake because prednisone can make her very thirsty... if you see her suck down a bowl of water you will know to expect a corresponding amount of piddle

Cricket is on prednisone for her allergies until the vaccine kicks in and she pees more than any dog I've ever seen. Luckily her and weenie both are starting to understand that peepee goes outside. (after nearly 3 years!) She knows how poor Sophie feels! I agree be very careful with what you feed her, cricket has gained some weight being on the pred. We all hope little Sopohie feels better soon and dosen't need that nasty ole medicine anymore. She can go back to having her milkshakes!!

Just a thought...................
Should I start Sophie on her Strict diet AFTER she is off the Predisone?
She never used to eat her kibble in the morning (she would just let it sit there and nibble from time to time)and NOW she gobbles it down and will then go over to Casey's dish and see if he left any for her.
I mean, she is going to gain weight on the Predisone already.
Giving her more green beans and healthy stuff shouldn't hurt her any:scratch:
What do you think?

I think the med could be one of the reason. And she is also testing you. "You give me no food? I give you pee." :rotfl: :rotfl:
I agree with Kim to roll up the rugs for now.

Strict diet on both of them after Sophie is off the med is good.
I am bad about giving Gi table scrap. I don't have a dining table, so I sit on the sofa when I eat. And Gi will ALWAYS be RIGHT BY MY SIDE! (surprise!) And she made sure at least one of her paws is on my lap. And if I ignore her long enough she would scratch me to remind me she is there!

Maybe I am a strict mom but I would stick with the diet. If she gains weight and you feed her extras on top of that, there will be more to loose afterwards. JMO.
ITA with Olga, start the diet now! You are not doing her any favors by waiting. Unfortunately since Sophie is on Pred she can't help but urinate anywhere and everywhere whenever she gets the urge. :sorry: you'll have to live with it until she is off the meds.

You are all so RIGHT! Tonight I ate my dinner at the table and didn't look at her.( I was gonna eat it in the bathroom :yuck:) I took her out before and after I ate! So far.....It is working.
I have washed all the carpets she tinkled on and YES put them back!
She got off the bed and used the pee pee pad at night. :cheer2: :yay:
She is such a GOOD GIRL! :hearts:
