or anyone who meets with others and their doxies. I was just trying to get ideas for our meetups. Maybe games, projects, or any other ideas to do at meetup. We meetup at our local Humane Society so we have and in-door area that opens up to the outside for the dogs to play. We have done wiener races, costume contests for Halloween, doggie gift exchange for Christmas, just needs some other suggestions. I don't think people are really out to spend $$ so it would have to inexpensive. Any ideas are appreciated!!

I know my favorite thing ever was when I had 'paw print art' done at one of the dog festivals in VA Bch. Water soluble paint, thick paper and something to rinse a paw off with. I can't remember what I paid...but it was so cool for me. I had refrigerator art drawn by my baby Dolly:hearts:

I go to meet ups and lee anne is the san diego meet-up organizer.... we just hang out and people socialize. Personally I don't even talk much at the meetups....I LOVE to observe all the dogs inter-acting and their behavior...
I think it is not a good idea to distract people from paying attention to their dogs...since most talk and don't pay attention anyway... Dog watching is AWESOME...better than any Game

We're members of the Westchester Dachshund Meetup Group (NY, my husband is from that area so if we can make a trip when there is a meetup, it's a super bonus!). The organizers put together monthly "bark park" events (or indoor gatherings at Best Friends Pets), and always have a theme (based on time of year or whatever, such as St. Patrick's Day, Fourth of July, etc.). Sometimes participate in shelter events/walks, attend the NYC Dachshund Day, etc. etc.

WDMG is having a weenie roast for the July gathering, haha!!

Here's a link to the WDMG http://dachshund.meetup.com/140/ I'm sure Rita, Nick or Kenny would be more than happy to share some ideas with you.

Rob is our organizer and he does an awesome job! We have raffles that go to rescue. Some of my favorite are when he invites special guests in - we had an agility meet-up and a basic training meet-up. I think these guests come for free - it's a good opportunity for them to meet potential customers.

You could do a "Match the Puppy" contest like we did here. Have everyone bring an unlabeled puppy picture and guess which picture belongs to which family. You could have them bring an adult and a puppy pic, or just match the puppy pic to the real dog.

I've heard of the Simon Says game before and I like that one because you're working WITH your dog and having fun with your dog at the same time.

Our meetup group is so big - usually at least 30 people attend each time and they're all spread out all over the dog park. I've tried to do raffles before and it's really hard getting everyone's attention. I need a megaphone. (Cat, that's a birthday hint... Can you IMAGINE me getting after the kids with a megaphone?!? Wowee...) Anyway, trying to "organize" stuff was stressing me out... so now ours is purely social. I DO take the time to try and talk to people and answer questions and direct them toward good trainers/vets etc. It's nice because you really get to know the owners and their dogs better and you feel like you're becoming friends with them.
