Our dachshund rescue group is participating in a local 4th of July parade. We will have a truck with a flat bed trailer. Some hay bales for the volunteers and doxies to ride on. I need some suggestions on decorating our float. The theme is "American Pride". Any suggestions would be very helpful!!!
~thanks!

Is it a Chevy Truck? You could go with Baseball, HOT DOGS, and Chevrolet.....

Support the troops signs. Some 'camo' bandanas for the the doggies. Some red ,white and blue for the humans? What about hitting up oriental trading company for some decorations? Banners and runners for the bales of hay?

I think that one of the things Americans should be proud of is the way they reach out to each other in times of need. Katrina is a good example. The floods in Missouri in 1993 was another. The big organizations (like the Red Cross) fell on their faces in a lot of cases, government fell over itself, but the American individual walked up and stood side by side with other individuals to reach out and help where help was needed.
Since this is basically a rescue float, how about something that would show Paws across America, where animals and animal lovers showed their pride in this country that we reached out and cared for the smallest of our own - our pets, in a time of need?
Is there room on the flatbed for a small boat that a couple people could sit in with some dogs being rescued from flooded New Orleans? Even a bird cage in the back? You can design the water around the boat from cardboard boxes painted dirty blue. Put an American flag on the stern? Just an idea.
