my little Eddie went to the Bidge. Here are some photos in memory of him.
This was taken the first few days I got him from my neighbor, he was in pretty rough shape! Check out his nails :)

I took them to have professional photographs done about 6 weeks before he left and now Renee uses his photos for her greeting card line:

Eddie was attacked by the dogs next door ( it is a landscaping company). He was out with the others going to the bathroom and he was barking with them (as he always did). I figured I would bring the others inside and then go and pick him up since he wasn't coming in with the others, I even left the door wide open for him. As soon as I put the last one on the bed he yelped. My 2 other boys were out the door before I could get out of the house. The dogs (not sure what type but bigger ones) had pushed under the 8ft chain link fence, by the time I got to him he was gone. I called animal control they came out and made a report but because it wasn't animal to human attack there wasn't much they could do. They did go over there and tell them that it was part of their responsiblity to fix that area of the fence but they never did. I had to fix it. The owner who has known my family for years never called or anything azzhole!! Lets just say they are short one dog though. I have since put up a smaller fence that fences just the front yard for the other dogs to play.
Eddie was given to me by my other neighbor because he kept getting into fights with her 160lb female rott. She was going to take him to the pound if I didn't take him. Every time Frankie and him were out Eddie would try to fight with him. He did not come from the greatest of places to say the least. He slowly started to come around, after the first few days him and Frankie just kind of stayed away from each other. It's funny though once I got Rustie Eddie and Frankie were like best buds. Eddie still never shared anything (food and toys) but Frankie I guess understood that and didn't try to get anything of his. Even if I gave them both a toy and Eddie wanted Frankie's-Frankie would just let him have it.
Frankie was the one that found Eddie- it was about 5:30 in the morning and still dark and Frankie ran straight to him. The whole morning as I sat there holding him Frankie just kept licking him. Rustie sat beside me and just placed his head on my arm just looking at me saying I am sorry. It was a Sunday and I called one crematory but they were closed on Sunday, I called another one and they answered and told me to bring him in at 9:00. I looked to see if they had a website and on the home page was a friend of mine who I graduated high school with and the owners of the cemetary and they were all holding dachshunds. A small light on that dark day.
One small thing I remember also about that morning, Eddie wasn't too affectionate but I was sitting on the bed trying to wake up to let them out and Eddie came and sat right in my lap. I thought this is odd coming from Eddie but I just held him like a baby and told him I loved him. Sometimes I wonder if he knew it was his time. I plan on getting a reading from Sheila later this week and see what she and he have to say.

That is awful. At least he had a great home and knew how much he was loved, before he passed on.

Thank you for sharing that tragedy. I always look at even the most awful events in life for something to have been learned from it, and your story teaches a valuable lesson. I'm truly sorry for your loss.
