Believe it or not, there was actually a Dog Event out here in the boonies.
Dog Days of Summer was held at Past Tense, which is a cider mill/upscale country store/antiques/art sorta place.
Vendors, rescue booths, raffles, and some contests.
This one vendor had the CUTEST things...I don't know what you would call them but they were collars, like the collars of shirts and blouses, made for dogs. NOt functional, just decorative. They had girly ones with lace and even little pearl necklaces and such attached, and the boy ones had TIES. I tried one on Owen and it was SOOOO cute esp. when he sits up (which he does perpetually). OMG. Adorable. Unfortunately Rob was with me so I couldn't buy anything.
We participated in the hula hoop game (musical chairs, kinda) When the music stopped, human had to be in the hoop and the dog had to be outside the hoop, sitting down. The last round, when there were only two people left, dog had to lay down. Owen has the fastest "down" in the history of the world so we won :) I let a little girl borrow Laika and they did really well too.
So we won some chewy sweet potato chews. Kinda weird looking but they are chewing on them now.
Then they had the "Fun Egg Game". It was fun. You ahd to balance this plastic egg with a rock in it (so it wobbled) on a spoon and hold your dogs leash in that same hand and whoever was first to the end won. Me and Laika couldn't do it at all!!! She would start trotting and it would fall. It was hilarious. So then, miracle of miracles, ROB DID IT WITH SALSA. Yes, Rob actually prticipated in a dog event. AND they WON!!! A squeaky ball. Salsa was o so happy!!!
THEN came the pie eating contest. A small amount of whipped cream on a pie plate. I had Laika and Owen. Owen won. Surprise surprise. :rotfl: He was done for like 5 seconds before they even noticed cuz it was so unbelievably fast. Owen likes to eat.. Laika was daintily licking it. So we won another toy :)
It was pretty fun :) Donated some money to the rescues and went home,
