View Full Version : Is Your Avid Chip Really Registered?

I just found out that Taffy's isn't. It has been in the back of my mind that I was supposed to receive a new tag with the number engraved...at least that is what the animal control people told me....and I paid a fee for it....but none ever came.
I called Avid today to make sure that the information on her chip registration was correct, only to learn that they never bothered to register it at all. I would have done it myself, except how do I know that is actually the chip number that is in her....or is she really chipped?
You could say I am a little p.o.ed. I will be down at animal control on Monday with my girl, they will be scanning for her chip, and they will be explaining why she is not registered.
I would SERIOUSLY advise everyone to call and check on the information on the chips in their pets. If she had gotten loose...they would have never known who she belonged to from her chip.

oh man, that is terrible!Don't forget to give the *evil eye*the whole time!
That's awful. We sent in our registry with the AKC program, I'm not sure which of the two chips that is but I think its Home Again, the other one. Well, when we move in a few weeks I'll have to send in an update so hopefully I can confirm that Tasha is registered!

You should have got a paper from the vet to sent in to AVID to register, I did and it cost an additional $15.00.

Part of the adoption cost if for chipping, and they had me fill out the info there, and I gave them the money for registration. They dropped the ball. She will be registered Monday...after I make sure she has that chip with that number.
:thanx: for the reminder for everyone. After registering Trixie I received a confirmation letter in the mail with all her information.
Every few months I ask the vet to scan the boys just to make sure the chip is working still. I should call the company to check on it though.

I called the number on Mitzi tag a while back and it came back reg to the vet who put it in. I got the paper work to change it but then I put them in a safe place that I now can't find. But, at least if she gets lost they will call the vet and the vet can look up her number. I really need to have it changed to my name though.
When I got Pippit, I could feel his chip. I had the vet check and nothing was scanning. But he said it was definitely a microchip...it just was "dead" So, Pippit now has two chips....one that works and one that doesn't.

We've been having a trouble getting a straight answer as to whether everything is done correctly for Oscar. He was registered to the vets office at first. My only consolation is that the vets office keeps a record of all the chips they use. So, if they are contacted with a found dog, they should take the next step and contact the owner. My DH is going to double check with Avid this week again. Thanks for the reminder.

I chipped two of mine myself and mailed it in. I also changed the address when we moved. I also own a scanner and check it periodically. They do die sometimes. So, when you have your annual exam at the vet it is a good idea to have it checked

You're right. I just assumed everything was fine with Bella's. I got the new tag, etc. I'll be calling to make sure she is indeed registered. Thanks for the head's up!
