View Full Version : Buda - 2009 !!!
Several of us are staying at the LaQuinta at I35 and Ben White in Austin. I believe Patrice said it is about 10 miles from Buda. This is the LaQuinta that has the IHop right by it !!!
Phone # 512-443-1774 and be sure to tell them you are with the Doxie Lovers Club. If you will let me know that you have made reservations there, I will call him a week or so before and give him a list of names - he said he would try to get the rooms close together.
I know, I know - it is still almost 5 months away.... but :wow: - I am excited and ready to go !!!
Patrice and I want to have a get together at the hotel Friday night - so if you don't already have plans - come by and just hang out !!!! Snackies, maybe some drinkies, PUPPERS, and DLC family - who could ask for more :D Hee, hee - we will coordinate when it gets a little bit closer :rotfl:

I'm so hoping to be able to come to Buda this year! But I will probably be solo...no doggies and no hubby. David is still up-in-the-air about going (he's a little on the shy side, unlike myself :rotfl: ) and the doggies don't fly. Keep your :crossfin: that I'll be able to attend. :)

yes, I am staying at that La Quinta. If it fills up, the Austin airport one is not too much farther, and just got renovated and is mega nice. I was thinking about booking that one instead but I used my free La Quinta points and it's already done so I probably won't.

The races are run both days. Saturday is the preliminary runs and Sunday are the finals. We head home in the afternoon on Sunday because we have to work on Monday. It kind of depends on the weather when we leave. Some people stay over and go home on Monday.
Last year Tex had us all over for pizza on Saturday night. I don't know if she's going to do that this year. And we were planning to get together at the motel on Friday night and eat and hang out. Looks like I have plenty of choices on flights at this point...some get in early afternoon and some in the evening. Could I bribe/con/pay someone to pick me up, or is it better to take a taxi? I'll probably have to come back on Sunday afternoon/evening only because of David's work schedule (Mondays are really long, late days for him). This is going to be SO fun! :) He asked me if I was comfortable going somewhere with people I don't know, and my response was "I DO know them...we may not have met in person yet but I feel as though I know them." Yep that is how it was for me last year. Zandra and Ellen came to get me at the airport it was like oh hi, there you are :rotfl: . Wasnt wierd at all, and then Andrea was at Z's house too and it was like we just hadnt seen each other in person for awhile.
I have to admit I was in heaven with all the pups, and being able to hold and love on them all. And even have the ones that were"shy" come to me, really made it even more memorable.
When we were at the fair the 1st day I knew some people right off cuz they posted pics of themselves enough, but some I only knew the pups :rotfl: , but it all worked out great. I am one that will go up and so so that is ( dogs name) and you are?????? :rotfl: :rotfl:
One suggestion tho, I took a new SD card for my camers and I should have brought another one or a larger storage one cuz if you like to take pics you will fill them up in no time at all, so I missed some photo ops I would have loved to get but I KNOW there will be another chance.
Also bring warm weather clothes AND cool weather cuz you NEVER know what the temp will be there :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will have my laptop with me and I can put all pictures on a server where you can download them from. So feel free to leave yours at home if you want.
I can get people from the airport too. My mom will be here and she has a van, so no problem with space.
I would love to host Sat. night dinner/party again, but I need to get some kind of a head count. I don't know how many people we can comfortably fit in my house! I'm considering seeing if I can find a hall or conference center type place that we could use (must be dog friendly!)...but I'm still working on that...
I just want everyone to be comfortable. If ya'll want to do my house, that's totally ok with me! It's about a 20-25 min. drive from the La Quinta, but the directions are super easy.

I need to borrow a doggie. (hoping to borrow Frey Frey if he comes with Andrea.....):crossfin:
Jen - Freydo will melt your heart - him is SOOOO sweet :hearts:
Frey, Jethro and Otto are coming with me, and yes you may borrow Frey, as long as you sign a waiver stating you are not a diabetic as he is so very sweet, and that you will have to give him back, as you will want him for your very own. He's so awesome:hearts:

So I wont volunteer for even "helping" with directions :dunno:  , but am happy to ride with pups on my lap.

It was a 6 hour flight from NYC to London. Sigh. Not going to be going to Europe anytime soon.
I kept thinking since I'm West Coast now, Buda would be closer. Yes, I suck at geography.
Andrea, will totally sign waiver to spend time with Frey Frey. :D
Patrice, you bringing the 'Vette?

Yes it will totally help. We don't have pet friendly stores in Ottawa so he doesn't get out much but I do have a friend who walks with me and she'll help Dudley practice good doggie skills with her gang. :)

Um, no. Scooter barely fits in the vette with just me, much less with the DH Cash, Miller and all the chairs, coolers, etc. We're bringing the truck. Or should I say the famous truck

Jen, I'm going to try to coordinate my flight to get in and leave around the same time as your flights so let me know what you flight you choose.
I will need to borrow a dog as well...I'll miss my B's. Anyone up for lending me a dog or two? :)
Is there anything I should plan on bringing, YA'LL...Wow...that feels good...haven't used it in quite awhile. :)

I am guessing that my Brandy would love to be held 24/7 :) And then there is going to be Duchie, who's feet will never touch Buda ground.... or Baby Jethro for that matter !!! I feel sure you will have doxie filled arms at all times, with one pupper or another :D

Cash will volunteer to sit on your lap and let you rub his tummy :D It's reason he goes to Buda.
Edit: We always bring some extra chairs for those that don't have them and we'll have room from someone to ride to the fairgrounds with us. We'll have room for two if you can convince Scooter to sit on your lap

I think last year for dinner we came close to having 30 people.
As we have 3 pups, and usually a foster or two, we are definitely willing to loan them out!
I don't work on Fridays at all, so I can shuttle from the airport too.
Is Rae coming? Really?

Doc Paula works contract to contract and likes to have luxuries ... like pellets for the wood stove, groceries and dog food (I KNOW - talk about high maintenance!)
The $6,000 vet bill for J&J is kicking her butt, however I have faith that the doGs will prevail and we will roll up into Buda like we own it. With a side order of HRH!!! :cheer3: :cheer3: :cheer3: :crossfin:

I have to agree with Michele, South Carolina is GORGEOUS in the spring. I did basic training at Ft. Jackson (Columbia, SC) in 1990 in March and April and the weather was awesome ... not so much basic training. :duh:
I hope to visit SC in late March or early April to visit AND I'll bring my own bed!
