Well, I can't make plans right this minute but I am going through a stressful time and I think that a dachsie event can be a nice reward for enduring tough times. I have several stressors but one of them is the fact that my husband's job of 10+ years is not looking very secure right now, because of the economy. He has some good leads for a new job and there is also a chance that his current job will survive. I'm a bankruptcy lawyer, so I get more work in this economy but I'm sole practitioner and I can only do so much. So, we should be okay but we are cutting back on spending. If the dust settles soon, don't you think we should come out to play? Oscar is great on car rides but I cannot imagine taking him on a plane. I may just fly to a get together myself and leave the family at home, or maybe I'll bring the gang, consisting of a husband, human baby Dylan and dachsie baby Oscar!!! So, which outing is the BEST and which is easiest coming from the NYC metro area? I guess I am half joking because everyone will say that the outings that they go to are the BEST dachshund events ever.

It's seriously about the people and the dogs, so they are all great! I would pick the one closest to you to drive to and go. There is Ohio, Frankenmuth, Virginia and of course the biggest - Buda.

Depends if you want to see lots of DLC people, or just a few DLC people :). Or if you want to see wienerdog races and/or wienerdog costume contests or just lots and lots and lots of wienerdogs. Buda is neat because it's also a county fair, but Ohio has lots of vendors too so you can buy cute doxie stuff. I haven't been to the other meetups but they all sound fun :cheer3:

We have lots of people going to Buda (see the thread on that), and we will get together for events outside of the actual picnic - but there are members going to the other meetups too, and I am sure they'd love to have company :)

Come to Michigan for the Bavarian Dachshund Festival. You will meet me and Alex and Ollie, Amy and the Weens + Salsa, and Lisa and Rafi and HOPEFULLY they are bringing the entire 5 pack. I don't know who else besides that is coming. It is in August so plenty of time to plan.

They all sound great!!!! I want to meet a lot of the DLCers. I guess Buda is best for that. Virginia is probably the easiest drive for me. When is that?
