I am looking into flying American with Duchie to Austin for Buda. I can fly round trip for $196.90 including tax. It costs $100 EACH WAY for her to fly with me and she does not even get a seat.

WTF? Any input/advice, am I missing something here?

I've heard that that's the way it is. :dunno:

Yup. Sucks. When I flew with Bailey the other passengers didn't even know he was there. The only time it was really apparent that I had a dog was when I took him out of his carrier to go through security.

The last time I flew it was with AirTran and they were wonderful plus only charged me $69.00. Petey did have to go under the seat though but leaned over and put my hand inside the carrier to let him know I was there.

Delta is also good but they raised their prices.

:krazy: isn't it? Also, too, they only allow 1-2 dogs per flight, so as soon as you know what you might do - make the reservations, so she is one or the only in cabin doggie.

Yep, that is the way it is now, $100.00 each way to have the dog in a carrier under your seat.

My tickets cost less than GOOSIE will.

Delta now charges $150 per dog each way. You can buy ticket cheaper for yourself! And if you have a dog, you are not allowed to have a carry on. Just your handbag.

Yep, Tasha was my carry on luggage, under the seat in front of me, $100 each way. Crazy! But you know, worth it to have her with me, and cheaper than boarding or a pet sitter.

yeah, duchie would go under the seat in front of you. It used to be $75 each way on northwest but i don't know what it is now. Alex is a veteran flier. He does just great. Ollie, on the other hand...has never gone. I hesitate to think how Mr. Curious would be on a plane :) :)

All the airlines have raised their prices on flying pets. I've read the airlines do not like flying them, but have no idea if that is true or not.

communist bat rastards.

I would a HELL of a lot rather fly with a planeload of dogs than screaming babies or the danm kids who think it's funny to kick the back of your seat from Nashville to Austin and the older gentleman who brings on a very stinky snack and then snores the remainder of the flight.

AirTran still allows you to have two carryons so I had Petey and a small suitcase. I tell ya they were great. But, I don't know were all they fly.
