If any of you will be in or near Kalispell Montana on Saturday May 16 my friend and I are putting on the 2nd annual doxie dash to raise money for improvements in the playground area of Meadow Hills Park. I would have preferred the money go to doxie rescue but once we get the playground improvements completed that is what we will do with it. It was my friends idea and she set up the location and one major sponsor and I took the rest and ran with it. I contacted several local establisments and we got mega donations for prizes for each heat winner, and some really nice items for the grand champion.
We ran only two doxies at a time and ran double elimination heats (just like drag racing, lol) It was a ton of fun.
Last year for the first ever we actually had 35 doxies and even one cart doxie who brought us lots of information to display about Dodgers list. The no-kill shelter had a table set up with adoption and spay/neuter information and a super time was had by all. We even had the local newspaper and television station come out and do stories on it. The television news reporter had such a great time he stayed for the entire thing rather than just filming a small blurb and leaving.
This year since it was such a huge success last year we are even having a Boy Scout Troop come in and grill hotdogs and we will split the profit on that with them. We are hoping that this year will be even bigger and better than last year.
