We snuggled in bed last night at 8 pm and watched the Olympics. We went to sleep at 9:30 pm. She was pretty much out of it last night and couldn't even pee when i carried her out.

We got up at 8:30, there was some blood from her mouth on my sheets, but that was to be expected.
Her wittle face is swollen on her right side *on the left in the pic below*
She ate her Nature's Variety medallion and her pill I wrapped in a little piece of cheese. She didn't drink any water so I put water on her mouth just to wet her whistle. She looks like a pitiful wittle soul this morning. I carried her out to pee and still nothing (I'm a wee bit concerned about that)
Casey checks on her from time to time and does this little whine. He knows she is not feeling well.
She is resting comfortably under the computer on her little bed.
I plan to stay home with her tomorrow as well. My heart just breaks for her to see her in such discomfort.
I will be calling the vet today to get more information. I just wanted to pick her up last night and take her home. I really want to know why she had so many teeth removed. I must admit, they were pretty bad. I know that I feel just horrible after I get a tooth or 2 extracted, she had 6 removed!

i'd keep my eye on the no peeing thing. it might be because she hasnt had anything to drink, but i'd call the vet just incase.

Ohhhh, poor Sopher....you can see the swelling. Is she off the pred now (or for a few days)? I know that makes her pee, maybe it makes them stop when she stops taking it? I would definitely still ask the vet though, especially since she was your little pee monster.

Poor girl, here are lots more rayz for her :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: to feel better soon. I am sure it makes her feel better just you being home with her.

Awww, poor little girl!!! Dentistry is absolutely NO fun for human nor canine. That's a lot of teeth to lose at one go. Alex had a couple out at once a number of years ago, and it took her a couple of days to recuperate. I wouldn't worry too much about the no peeing thing, but if she still hasn't gone by tonight, I'd give the vet a call. She should get some fluids into her though...poor ol' mouf...it probably hurts to have anything in it! Did the vet give you any kind of pain killer for her? :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: for her to feel better soon, and for you too! Isn't it hard to watch when they're hurtin'?!?

Vet has been called. He will call me back a little later.
I could just kick myself in the Arse (where is that smilie?) for not asking more questions yesterday when i picked her up. I just wanted to get her home and comfort her.

She was given pain killers. There printer broke so it doesn't say what kind of pain killers they are on the bottle.
Her back feet are a little sore as she does hobble quite a bit. Her declaw removal involved the cutting (for lack of better words) the bone. The vet described it to me when I picked her up as "It was like removing a thumb" Which of course made me feel just horrible!

I have a squirt bottle that I will put water into and rinse out her mouth with it.
She is sleeping in her comfy space~ under my computer by my feet.

I will post more after i hear from the Vet.

SIX????
WOW
That is alot of teeth!
Poor baby!

Please give her hugs for me. I feel so badly that I had no idea her teeth were bad. I'm thinking she had a dental when she was here, though I remember her teeth to be in bad shape when she first got here.
Poor little girl. And poor you for worrying!!
((((hugs)))) To you both!!!!!

Lots and lots of :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: to our wittle Sophers!! Don't beat yourself up! You'll get all the answers you need when you hear back from the vet!! I'm sure she will be just fine....and I can relate to the amount of teeth they removed...Ben had a dental done once and they had to remove 8!! He was pretty messed up from the entire thing, but he bounced back and lived a long happy life....just like Sophers will!! Keep us posted!

Poor Sophie :love0052: :love0052:

Poor Mutter :gphug1: :gphug1:

Janet, what about getting her some "pedilyte" and giving it to her. When my furkids do not feel good thats waht I give them.

In the rescue world losing 6 teeth in the first dental is not unusual. Give "our" girl a hug and kiss from Auntie YO.

Just got the call from the Vet. Sophie's teeth were really bad as the roots were exposed and they decided to remove them now for preventative measures. She would have been in alot of pain in a few months had they not been removed. She has 4 dissolving sutures in her mouth.
She was given antibiotics for her mouth, no pain killers. I was shocked  but he said that most dogs are resilient to pain. (insert WTF smilie here)
I informed him about the swollen right side of her mouth. He advised me to get her some Bayer Baby Aspirin to help reduce the swelling and to help with any fever that she may be experiencing. She is to take 1 pill twice a day. If the swelling gets bigger, I am to take her in right away!
As for her not peeing...she hasn't had anything to drink but, she should go pee by tonight. I had given her the NV medallion this morning and rinsed her mouth out. If she doesn't pee...back we go!
We go back on Wednesday to remove her foot bandages and have Casey vaccinated. :faint:

Janet I don't remember how old Sophie is but when they are older it takes them a little while longer to "snap back". Good idea to check with your vet.
Sending mega :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: to Sophie.

man, I HATE it when vets (or anyone for that matter) says that. :mad2: They're not more resilient to it, but just more stoic about showing it. In the wild to show weakness is to ask to become a well-chomped victim. Many vets do give painkillers now (mine does, anyway!); they're starting to have a better understanding about the effects of pain in domestic animals. Not to mention a change in vets' attitude! Poor poor little girl...:( Hopefully cuddling with her mom will help a bit. :rayz: :rayz: :rayz: and a gentle :hug99: that she (and you) feel better soon. Let us know how it goes...we're thinking of you!

Sorry I'm posting this so late (dang home dail up wasn't running yesterday).

I can't believe you vet didn't give her any pain meds. My vet always gives pain meds and then lets me decided when to give the pups any if I think or see that they need it. How would they like to have 6 teeth pulled and no pain control. grrrrrrrrrr

I do think that it is better to have pulled the teeth now that way she'll avoid any pain down the road.

Hugs and belly rubs for Sophie. Feel better soon.

awww, poor thing.

i second the previous opinion given about pedialyte.
when hendrix had some sort of stomach bug, and had gotten so dehydrated that he had to stay at the vet with a drip for the day, i tried some flavoured pedialyte when i got him home. he had no interest in water, but he sucked that right down! i think it was an orange flavour.

i hope she's feeling better soon.

Good News! Sophie finally peed and had some water after her dinner! and she barked a bit at Brett.
She ate her dinner~ one NY mediallion mixed with Oatmeal. She loved it!
She had her antibiotic and her baby aspirin tucked inside a cheese slice.
Her face is still swollen (hasn't gone up or down) She is still wobbly onher feet. I don't let her walk around too much. She still wants to be near me so I just sit by the computer and stay on the DLC :hearts:
If i get up to go to the Kitchen she follows me~ another Good sign~Brett has been my coffee slave...but he doesn't put the sugar in
Thank you all for your kind pm's and words of support, I really apprecaite them.:hearts: :bighug:

More news tomorrow!
