View Full Version : Oscar went crazy when the cleaning lady dusted the night table

We've hired someone to clean the house at times when I am busy with work. Sometimes Oscar is a challenge for the cleaning lady (but she happens to be a major "dog person"). Well, this week he was a little angel and didn't misbehave until the cleaning lady went into our bedroom. She was dusting my husband's night table and Oscar went up onto the bed and he was barking at her and really making an attempt to scare her off. She was dusting my husband's pictures and had moved some things out of the way. Oscar really seemed to be protecting my husband's things. I took him out of the room but he was continuing to watch as I took him away. He didn't stop barking until the cleaning lady moved on and was dusting the TV and the dresser. He didn't bark when she was dusting my night table. Maybe because I was there to protect my own things. My husband wasn't home.

Anyway, it feels so great and luxurious to have a cleaning person! Her prices are reasonable and it pays for me to work more hours and then pay her to clean. My husband does not have a lot of time either.

I know it may not be good that Oscar does this but my husband was intrigued when I told him what Oscar had done! I also found it interesting.

Sounds great, but I think I would have to clean my house first before I let a cleaning lady in :) which would defeat the purpose of hiring one.

Rafi, my Dad and stepmom always did some cleaning before the cleaning lady came! They also wash the dishes before putting them into the dishwasher!

Kerie, its wonderful you found a dog friendly cleaning lady! And it sounds cost effective. Now if Oscar would stop seeing her as a threat to daddy's stuff...

Me too!

Cricket seems possessive over the kids bedrooms. When other kids come over and go in there, he gets very agitated. So much so that I usually have to crate him. He will bark and walk around in circles. I don't know what it's about either. I just either tell the kids to go outside or put him in his crate for the duration.

Kinda funny how they know who's stuff is who's! Does Oscar bark at her when she comes into the house at all?

He might bark before I open to door. When he sees that I am letting the person in, he just wags his tail. His whole body wiggles.

I organize a lot before the cleaning lady comes. This way when she is done, everything is clean and I have things organized.
