In that second pic I think he's thinking, "Is dad going to fire up this BBQ or am I going to have to do it myself?? I'm starving!"

He is adorable! He looks like a miniature version of Tank, my dad's dog that passed away a long, long time ago. Tank was a Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, something else and something else mix.

Yeah, we're not totally sure of the mix. He's clearly mostly dachshund, but
may be part beagle or something else as well. Thoughts?

Probably true. Thus far hope springs eternal when it comes to any food with Iceman. Any time we go into the kitchen he follows looking expectantly and
trying to convince us that he's starving.

I've only heard him howl once, a few days after we got him and we both had to leave in the middle of the day for about 10 minutes, and I put him in his crate. When I was coming back I heard him howling a little bit. Since we've discovered that he's completely housebroken, though, there's no need for the crating when we leave, so that may have alleviated it. On the other hand, it's hard to tell if he's howling when we're gone, us being well *gone* and all. He doesn't howl at night though...and as I discovered by putting a webcam up at home for a few days, he mostly just sleeps when we're at work.

I think Karen will find out more when we go away for xmas.
