The Dogs and I went out of town again to do more agility. Friday and Saturday...just to Dexter which is about 90 miles away but we spent the night out there. Good thing...cuz the organizer neglected to mark the trial "full" on the CPE website so there were a gazillion dogs there. 400 runs each day so it went LATE.
My dogs did very well :) Salsa Q'd 7 of her 10 runs...one NQ was my fault as I had a brain freeze or something and actually forgot the course for a minute during standard! Another was a very difficult gamble (where the dog works at a distance while the handler stays behind a line. VERY hard for a little dog as the distance isn't adjusted for size...they just have a bit more time to do it. More on that later :) :) :)) She also ran BEHIND ME (very bad and very sneaky) to do an A-FRAME, of all things. I guess she really enjoys them a lot more now that they have used a rubber granule coating on it. It IS awesome! My little dogs can climb it soooo easily now and don't slide on the way down which has increased Salsa's speed tremendously and also Owen doesn't do his spectacular leaping off anymore. He didn't like sliding and he always slid on the way down and would choose to leap off instead. Not with the rubber coating :) Berry cool.
But anyway it was kinda funny as I had no clue where that teeny dog was and she was right behind me, about eye level, on the a-frame. Here i iz mom!!!! Silly creature.
Laika and Owen ran two runs each day. Two does not seem to be enough for Laika anymore. She was very unhappy Saturday and barked her demanding brat bark at ANYONE passing by. She wanted OUT of the pen, she wanted her BELLY RUBBED NOW, she wanted to run more agility. I took her for walks and held her as much as I could but she was not happy. She even cried. Laika doesn't hardly ever cry. it was really sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Master manipulator.
And my Owen Weenie was a star again. Not only did he do the very hard gamble like it was nothing, he was the ONLY dog jumping under 20 inches that did it!! No 4's, no 8's, no 12's and no 16's. Only 7 dogs in the whole level (4,5,and C) got it and they were all 20 or 24 inch dogs. He was famous for the rest of the day.
It was good to get away again. At agility I can forget to some extent what is going on here and just hang out with dogs and talk to dog people. A lot of new people were there so a lot of new dogs to watch. A lot of people had never seen Salsa run so she was quite an attraction. There were two other chis there but they were at least twice her size!!
She now has 2075 of the 5000 points needed for her C-ATE. Makes me want to trial more! Alas, it is too expensive.... but she'll get it eventually.
