We bought a whole lot of chicken today! 3 bags of Chicken Leg Quarters.
4 Leg Quarters in each bag. I cut them up and have dinners for them for the next 12 days!!!!

I had them eat in the kitchen.

Here are the pics!

Casey wasn't sure what to do with his piece.

I have a questions...when you feed them the chicken on the floor like that, do you have to mop your whole kitchen when they are done???

Nice pictures although they do make me sort of quesy!! :rotfl:

Yes Tanya,

But I mop my floor every night anyways. I was going to put down a plastic table cloth on the floor but they just would have found a bare tile spot to eat their chicken.

When the weather gets nice, They will eat their dinners out in the tiny back yard.

Yeah, I don't think I can do that. :yuck: but it looks like they loved it! Very cool. I think the boys will get some in the summertime, but a permanent switch can't work for me. Did you figure out how much cheaper it is than the medallions though?

1 bag of Chicken Leg Quarters cost $1.75. I got 4 Leg Quarters in each bag.
I cut them in half. That equals 4 meals for 4 days.
I bought 3 bags. 12 meals for 12 days for less than $6.00 for both dogs. That is like 44 cents a day! 22 cents a pooch!

I would say that is alot cheaper than the medallions, which are around $12 or$13.00 a bag.
48 medallions in a bag...give 4 to 5 out a day. One bag lasts 10 days.
You can do the math!

We will still give them one medallion each every morning until the bags are finished. We have 3 left.

We will give them chicken for a start and then move to other meats!!!!!
I doubt I can find a goat's head anywhere

Why didn't I do this before?

I do it in crates. I can't stand the thought of them dragging stuff around the house. For me, Emma's rather violently allergic to kelp, so I can't do the medallions. I feed two pounds of food a day, between the two dogs. The medallions would be ridiculously expensive. The MOST expensive thing they've gotten lately is tilapia filets that are on sale for $3/pound. They don't usually get anything over $2/pound, and they get some ground veggies every day. Emma eat a LOT. Teenie's a very easy keeper:)

Gigi likes to eat her food... at least the ones she can't put the whole thing in her mouth on the couch, so it's not working for me. Plus I don't think I want to see her eating that raw chicken. :p well, that's just me. Glad it's working great for you. :)

What a good question!! :rotfl:

Glad you see how easy and cheap it is!! Congrats!

And, don't you live near Toronto? Isn't there a Chinatown there? I bet you can find a goat's head there....

I kinda thought she was a Pro at it! She doesn't need any help from Mommie!
I am so thrilled that they both enjoyed their dinner :cheer2:

They still get their veggies and vitamins, can't cut those out..they :love5: veggies.
I will stay with just the chicken for a few weeks and then move on to other meats that I will be brave enough to watch them eat. *it is all about me ya know* I don't think I could stomach watching them eat a goats head :yuck:

I've seen tripe in the Super Markets but they are all white (bleached) Has anyone tried that?
I've seen rabbit..will give that a go.

I want to know ~Oh Great Guru~ What kind of meats should i stay away from...I know not to give them chicken wings, they are kinda tiny here, about as long as my index finger and a little fatter than my thumb.

I am HYPED I tell ya.....HYPED!!!!!!

I treid liver as my second choice and my guys looked at me as if I had sprouted a second head. NO WAY were they eating that nasty mess! C told me to freeze and offer frozen so I'm gonna try again! Still looking for a cheap meat source to do more variety!

Bleached white tripe is of no nutritional value. Skip it!

Pork is another great cheap meat!

For chicken, go with whole cut up chickens, leg quarters, or thighs. Drumsticks work too.

So, It's a guessing game right now!

Looks like they enjoyed it!!! I couldn't do the whole raw thing. I can't even touch raw meat without putting a glove on. :yuck:

I can get Tripett at the health food store here, and the girls LOVE it! I get the New Zealand Lamb. It's free range, so no grains. It's expensive, but they only get one can (shared) a week. It reeks. The additives are garlic, fish oil, glucosamine, and chondroitin. Yum!

Tasha gets tripette about one week a month. Nasty stuff but she loves it.

I'm Ms raw chicken germ phobic, not on my kitchen floor, though I do have a bathtub now....

Nope, first I have to get the medallions into her diet and convince DH on that, before going to raw chicken. I found a store that should have the medallions and must go soon. Meant to over the weekend but the park trip tired me out.

The pics look great!!!, They really enjoyed their chicken.

I am glad the weather is getting warmer so I can just toss the meat outside and let the girls eat on the patio. Although they keep dragging it into the grass and dirt. I gave them raw outside on Saturday, it was beautiful here in Chicago.

I know feeding the raw medallions can get very pricey, that is why so far I have still been feeding 50% kibble. When I get more comfortable with the raw from scratch, I will probably switch over to 100% raw.

I found a great meat packing store in our area. I went in the other day and got some soup bones for $.033 a pound and the guy was so nice he cut them up into manageable pieces for the girls. He brought out two huge bones and I was like OMG!! they are bigger than my dogs. He said no problem and just took them to the bone cutter and cut them down for me.

I worked for Marriott for 13 years and I'm just realy paranoid about washing hands and the whole raw meat saga. But I am thinking of trying the Natural Balance for a treat.
