Heidi and Buddy could NOT WAIT to get to my parents tonight. From the time we pulled into the development, til we got to the house, they were whining and prancing around. We got home, and they went right to the back yard as always. I left them run around while I was carrying everything in the house for their stay w/ grandma and grandpa for the next couple of days. I went and called them and they both came running. Heidi had something in her mouth...it was grey and fuzzy and I knew almost instantly what it was :( She brought it over to me like "Look Ma, I got ya something" I screamed in horror for her to drop it and she took off running. Nowbecause i was at my parents, (and old habits die hard) I went running to get my dad he simply said "well go take it away from her." Now, you must realize, I do not do blood...i'm the most squeemish person when it comes to blood. So I got some wadded up paper towels and went out to retrieve the bunny. Heidi was very good about it, came over to me, and was letting me grab ahold of it but would not "leave it" or "drop it." My dad came out and we ended up having to put her on her side and pry it out of her mouth. She did NOT like the way my dad was holding her so when he released her, she went after him (thankfully, she's old and slow and just grazed his pant leg). The bunny was so tiny, and so cute. I named him Frank. My dad is going to "dispose" of him tomorrow.

To Frank Bunny (no one should die with out a name)...I'm sorry you did not get to lead a full, exciting bunny life. I hope you rest in peace!!! :angel7: :angel7:

Man you have some major Field Trial talent there! Are they AKC registered? If so you really should look into doing Field Trials with them.

Sorry about Frank, Bex. I know what you mean about not doing blood. I can faint at the sight of blood (have done it in the past). There's a reason I"m not a nurse!

Poor Bex! You would not do to have my neighbors cat. She comes home every day with a present! Yesterday it was a crawdad! Sometimes it's snakes, mice, lizards, frogs. Whatever the mighty hunter can get!
Poor bunny! Poor Bex!

The Great and Mighty Huntess Heidi Strikes! I can just read the headlines now!

I am sad for the little bunny~ Frank or Franca  did you check on the sex of the bunny before naming it?
But, it is what Doxie's do. :(

I would have stood firm and demanded that she drop it. I am not squeemish (sp?) about blood, nope not me.

You and your Dad did good Bex :cheer2: and you handled it just like the daughter you are...went screaming to Daddie for help. :rotfl:

Maybe Grandma and Grandpa should make an announcement to all critters in the yard before you bring Heidi over. Like RUN FOR YOUR LIVES--HEIDI IS COMING! I REPEAT -- HEIDI IS COMING!

RIP, Frank.
Laika pulled a rabbit's tail off last year. Not really off...she...DEGLOVED it!
it was like a little rabbit tail pouch. We saw the rabbit afterwards (they eat under the bird feeders) with a little black stubby thing instead of a fluffy tail. I guess it grew back.
The funniest thing is that the whole tail incident occurred in Scouty's(the pig's) yard. After it was over, Scouty meanders over and casually sniffs the tail. He got SO upset!!! He backs up 10 feet really fast and starts yelling and groaning. Who knows why....guess pigs are against violence.

Yuck! Degloving the tail sounds grosser than actually killing the rabbit. Emma occasionally catches a rabbit. I "make" her eat it, as I don't want to clean it up, or have it killed for no reason. I just have her take it to her crate and eat up. I gave up feeling bad about it, b/c it's not something I can always stop, and feeling bad doesn't make it not happen. She also catches bugs and birds. She's a hunting dog, LOL. She's SUPPOSED to be drivey.

Teenie's discovering her drive, but she hasn't caught anything besides a bug yet:) She's pretty cute hopping under the tree, trying to get a bird (there's no way she could jump that high, the bird is taunting her).
