Anyone have any great ideas to get your doxies to go out in the rain? Short of carrying them out under an umbrella, and following them around crouched over them like a nut:rotfl: :rotfl: ...hoping that one little raindrop dosen't fall on them and the mission is aborted!!!
Someone told me that if you put socks or booties on them they will go out in the rain....I can't she my girls allowing me to put booties on them let alone wearing them...by the time the struggle was over to put 12 booties on 12 paws ...someone would have an accident!
And if you think the umbrella thing is funny....well how about when everyone wants to go out to go potty....they are waiting patiently at the door...I open the door, they see rain, and they all scatter in different directions like mice....I get to run around chasing them to make she everyone is still holding it LOL

Down here in the land of the big winds......we have these big hurricane awnings the cross over the back door step. That one is really big because it also covers two windows, one on each side of the small porch area. So when it rains, I let them out the back door, and they carefully edge off the step, around the rail and stay under the awning.

We must never let the rain touch us. ....oh no

How did that song go...oh no, don't let the rain come down,
oh no, don't let the rain come down,
oh no, don't let the rain come down,
my awnings got a hole in it....
and my doxie might drown :rotfl: :rotfl:

Al has a raincoat :) He looks really cute in it.

I didn't know it was a "breed thing" but my boys won't go out either. Ollie will go out under a light mist to do his business but Alex has been known to hold it indefinitely. He will do the inch out thing to one little spot in front of the step that is mulched. I guess it doesn't feel like wet soggy grass on his feet. But before we mulched it we worried a lot about him holding it so long out of defiance against the rain.

Light Drizzle to Heavey Rain
Pogo: If you think I'm going out in that you are dead wrong.
(10 Minutes to 2 hours Pass)
Pogo: Ok..Ok...I give in I cant hold it anymore.

Light Drizzle
Pixel: Yeah no problem I can handle this....

Light Rain
Pixel: I dont want to....You cant make me.
(5 Minutes later)
Pixel: Allright...Allirght...let me out.

Heavy Rain
Daddy: Its ok Pixel...go tinkle you're a good puppy, your a good dog. (Hunched over so that rain does not hit pixels back)

Pixel Mission Aborted Scenarios:
- Daddy didnt do a good job hunching over a single rain drop hit pixels back.
- Neighbour started up their loud car.
- Airplane flying over
- Thunder in the distance
- Strange sound in the distance dont know what it is, but better abort mission just to be sure.

Other than that they are pretty good. :mad4:

Rain coats! Grandma bought 2 rain coats for my 2. I laughed and didn't think they would work. We had a gully washer going on, hoodad put their coats on them and out they went. They didn't waste any time messing around but the coats did the trick. I did have to modify them so they didn't trip on them. She bought them big enough to cover their backs so they were too long in front. scissors took care of that.

Raincoats and umbrellas! When I've forgotton Pippit's raincoat, he will only go when I let him go under the umbrella~which means I get to stand out in the rain! One day, when my former housemate was watching because I was gone for like 10hours~it was POURING all day and she couldn't find his jacket or umbrella. He waited until I got home with the umbrella before he went potty!

Here he is in his raincoat:

Molly has a raincoat that she gladly wears! However, I forgot to put it on her one day this week when it was pouring but she did her business without too much of a fuss!

Tried a raincoat, tried walkies holding the umbrella over the dog while the human gets soaked to the skin....nothing.

So now we just drag her down the block a bit (cause she won't go willingly!), let her walk back a ways sniffing the curb....no potty? Repeat. By the fourth time of being dragged 1/2 way down the block she'll finally pee so we can go running home.

I push mine out the door on to the deck, then they either go on the deck or make a run for it to get under the trees!
They are usually pretty good unless it' s raining & cold too. Then it' s No Way! Not going out now! And they run to hide in their crates!
