is very very sick. I got a call early this morning from my mom saying that Emily was weak, she was walking very stiff legged and breathing rapidly. When I got to the house Em was at her food bowl so I went and put Charlie in the x-pen and in that 30 secs Emily was by the back door having a seizure. She's very dehydrated so the vet is giving her fluids and he thinks it might be her kidneys so we are waiting to see what her blood work shows up. This is very hard on us so if you could send a little Lhasa girl (she's 14) some rayz we'd really a appreciate it.

her kidneys are okay, she was very dehydrated and is still on a IV her blood work came back that her red blood cell count is low. She had a very high fever 107 when she first got to the vet so maybe that is why she was having seizures. She doesn't have any tumors so the vet thinks it might be a virus or her bone marrow causing her to bleed internally (I think this is what my mom said). We are going to see her as soon as I can leave work. She hasn't had any more seizures while at the vets office. He is going to repeat the blood work again to double check her red blood cell count again.

Emily is doing better and her blood work is looking better too. Her red blood cell count is still low but it is better. She is staying over night to continue with the IV and if everything goes well and she eats and drinks on her own she could be home tomorrow. She might have an something wrong with in immune system attacking itself but if that is the case then it can be controled with steroids. She looked so much better when we visited her.

On a side note my dad is a truck driver and when my mom called to tell him that we had to rush Emmy to the vet he told her he could be home in two hours all he had to do is call his dispatch. That made my mom cry even more of course. She's daddy little girl, his yard dog as he calls her. :)

That might be what the vet is considering. I had a cocker spaniel who had it. Steroids do help quite a bit; sometimes they also remove the spleen because it is a major source of red cell breakdown (and not a particularly necessary organ).

sending more rayz; I am glad she is doing better. Tell your parents we are thinking of them :rayz::rayz::rayz::bigrayz:

Well we thought Em was going to get to come home today. Her vet was very pleased with her progess. She was up walking this am but she isn't eating so he wanted to have her come home to see if my mom could get her to eat. This is not new for her though not to eat. BUT, my mom just called and Em took a turn for the worse. The vet thinks she might of had a stroke or another seizure.

We aren't sure what is going on with Em. The vet is  because she was doing so well and now ...

I went out and got her to take her home so she could be with mom tonight. If she makes it though the night then she'll go back to the vet's in the am. Basically it gives us time to say our goodbyes to her unless something changes quick. She is resting and does drink water from a syringe when it's offered.

Thanks for all your well wishes it means alot.

My mom stayed up all night with her giving her water and some hi calorie paste the vet gave us. After she drank 27 cc's of water she vomited. I went back over this morning after Mitzi's yearly check up and she was sleeping soundly. My mom had to go pick up my dad and right before she left Emily wanted up, so we put her on the floor and she walked around some then pottied and then had some nasty poo. She then vomited again so we cleaned her up and mom went to get dad.

So while I was with her she was real restless. I put her on the floor and she pottied then she walked into the kitchen looking for her water bowl. She actually drank on her own but she didn't want any food.

She then was still very restless so I put her on my lap and she fell right to sleep. When mom and dad got home dad thought she was doing awful and that she wasn't walking very well. Heck mom and I thought she was doing 100% better. What he doesn't understand is that she is standing, looking around, walking and wanting comfort. So they took her to the vet and the vet agreed that she is doing much better then anyone thought she would. Mom was ready to let her go but after seeing her this afternoon she can't just yet. They are going to see how she does the over the next 12 hours and then go from there.

Emily was laid to rest this morning after my parents said their goodbyes. My dad was with her until the end and brought her home. He had a really hard time burying her. He chose a spot in the yard between the bird bath and the fish ponds. He faced her towards the house, laid her on a pillow (he couldn't bare to put her in a box) then he didn't want dirt to get in her eyes so they place a blanket over her. He wanted his "yard bubby" close by him while he works in the yard. It was one of the hardest things he's had to do and is taking it very hard.

It is still very hard for both my mom and dad. They have Charlie my 9 year old foster boy with them while he is recouperating from his dental and that has helped a lot.

I missed it, too. I"m so sorry. :sosorry: It must be the time of year. I lost Pebbles on Mar 4th 2000 and CC or May 5th of the same year. My condolences to your parents. It does help to have another one in the house. It doesn't seem so empty that way.
