I have discovered that Casey and Sophie need to lose weight!
Just looking at them I can see they really need to lose a few pounds.
I am finding it difficult as Abby is as thin as a rail and I give her alot of treats.
I can't give one treats and not the other 2!
I make Casey's and Sophie's treats smaller and give Casey only 2 Nature's Variety Medallions and day and Sophie gets one. (half in the morning and the other half at night) I still mix 1 tablespoon of 1% or no fat cottage cheese in with their meals and a tablespoon of vegetables.
What else should i do? Any suggestions?
They are walked 5 times a day!
Casey and Abby do ZOOMIES at least 6 times a day. Poor guy has to hide to get some privacy:rotfl:

No sharing of your food? Like candied apple, ice cream etc? You can cut their treats even smaller. I think as long as you give them "something", then it's alright. When you give Abby treats, just give a very very very tiny piece to C&S. They won't know you gave Abby a bigger piece. Just my opinion. I completely stop giving Gigi my food and cut her treats way down when she lost her weight.
(Just so you know, she is almost 9 lbs now. :cheer2: )
Sorry but you need real exercise not zoomies. Can you walk them briskly twice a day for about 45 mins?
Would it be possible to put Casey and Sophie outside so you could give Abby an extra meal or treats?
Absolutely no people food! :goodluck:
I forgot to ask, when do you give the treats?

Patt, I think she also said they are walked 5 times a day...
Welcome to my world Janet!!!!!!!! I have the same problem with Julie. I cut out ALL people food and practically all treats. Now, if Jax gets a treat, Julie gets a couple of pieces of her food which comes out of how much she's allowed for the day. Does that make sense? We don't walk nearly as much as you do (but we SHOULD!) I know we'll walk more when it's not 103 degrees outside. I have no great advice, but to say hang in there and we'll support each other and our fat little puppers!!!!!!!:hearts:

Yes, they are walked 5 times a day.
We don't give them People food or People treats.
We have pretty much cut everything out!
We give treats at trick and treat time. Casey and Sophie know what this is all about!
At approx 6:30 pm each might I run thru their commands and give them a small treat for them. It is our time together.:hearts: :hearts:
Abby knows how to sit and stay. We are trying to get her to lay down and give a paw.
Sophie loves her walks and I have to carry her home at least once a day.
Mornings are a short walk. The 5pm walk is the longest.
They are fed at 9 am and 5:30 pm ---treats at 6:30 pm
Maybe alter their portion size? Subsitute with green beans of something that could fill their tummies, but not add unwanted calories? I'm really the wrong person to talk here 'cause everything I've tried with Julie hasn't worked either  .
I would increase the medallions and cut out the extra veggies and cottage cheese (the protein should keep them fuller - longer vs. the veggies). Pogo (who really needed to loose weight) was brought down to 1 - 2 for breakfast and 2 for dinner. And I had to cut out ALL treats, except for his potty and going to bed treat. I give them high end kibble as treats.
For Abby I would just increase her food and not give her any extra treats either.
How many minutes total do the 5 walks add up to? We average 80-90 min a day of walkies with Tasha. She has 1/4 kibble for breakfast and one medallion for supper (plus yogurt beans pumpkin).

Not a whole lot of help here. Bella girl has to lose at least 1lb. We cut out all people food, smaller bits for her treat rewards and measure her food religously. Her walks are a little longer too so we'll see what the vet says in a few weeks. It sounds like you're doing good with the puppers, maybe it's just going to take some time.

Some of them are just 'easy keepers' and it's hard to get their weight down. I"ve gotten Bogart down to a good weight, but continue to have trouble with Cash's weight. I think that exercise is key. When you walk them is it an ambling 'potty walk' or do you walk really fast and they keep up? Potty walks aren't much good for real exercise, you have to walk fast with them keeping up with you.
:hula1:
Patt, I think she also said they are walked 5 times a day...Well :duh: I missed that line, sorry.
JanUet you must give me pointers on how to manage my time for walks.
If they have lots of exercise, I guess what's left is the portion you feed according to their weight.
I believe Courtney has posted that info before.

They are walked at 9am - 1pm - 5pm and 9pm. We let them out for a quick potty break before bed time.
Doug is home in the day time during the week and I am home in the evenings.
The 5pm walk -- with me....is usually 30 to 40 minutes long.
If the weather is really nice we slip in another walk.

Wow Jen, with 90 mins of walking that doesn't seem like much food.....Has she lost a lot of wieght?
Maybe I should try that w/ Jen and see if it jars her metabolizm
How much does Tasha wiegh?
Thanks
