I'm holding a CDR fundraising event, the 1st annual Oktober WeeieFest, in two weeks. Organizaing is going pretty good, but I need some ideas for some short games. I have NO idea how many puppers may show up (at the moment, there's 7...the dogs and their hooparents that I've adopted out so far ...). The agenda looks like this (it's only a 2 hour event):

2:00 - 2:15 Welcome everyone, mention draw tickets, talk about CDR, point out booth, mention quilt tickets, introduce CDR adopters and their puppers. Then outline the rest of the day.

2:15 - 2:30 Sell draw tickets, Game #1(TBD), people have a chance to get some refreshments

2:30 - 2:50 Doug Teeft does the obedience segment "how to live with a stubborn dog"

2:50 - 3:10 Game #2, first set of draws for prizes /grooming demo

3:10 - 3:30 Dr. Laura Lee, DVM, and board certified animal accunpunturist/chiropractor: "Dealing with Dachsie health issues"

3:30 - 3:50 3rd game, second set of draws for prizes /grooming demo cont'd

3:50 - 4:00 Thank everyone for attending, ask if anyone is interested in a regular dachsie meetup group, reinforce need for foster homes and CDR members.

4:00 End of event

So if anyone has some ideas for short, simple games, it would be greatly appreciated!!! The obvious one is wiener races, but I'm not sure that we have the space for that. Help!!!!

Hum.......you could do a Doxi Cake Walk. Prize doesn't have to be a cake, could be doggie gift bag type thing. Set up spots of some kind (cardboard, bright poster board maybe), in a circle, play a non-doxie threatening song, have everybody walk in the circle and when the music stops they have to go to a spot. Oh, each spot needs a number. Draw a number out of a hat, or spin a wheel. Person and pup on the winning number wins!
Um....still thinking. You could do a "best trick" contest......see which pupper can do the neatest trick. Not sure how to judge that. Or an obedience contest. Have owners run pup through sit, stay, down, "leave it" using a treat.......pup that hits the most right the fastest wins.......Just some thoughts. I'll keep workin' on it.

That sounds like so much fun Paula. I don't know if you will even have time for a game.

But I would go with the best trick contest too.

Good Luck! I wish I lived near you so I could go too.

We usually do "bobbing for weiners" where we put a bunch of hot dogs in a little wading pool and let the dachsie get them. Once we did a longest tail and longest snout contest and, of course, the costume contest and silent auction. The silent auction is usually our big money maker since all the stuff is donated. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I can't think of games right now too early, but we do a parade of doxies and share their rescue stories, that is always a crowd pleaser.

I just wish they had thing's like this here in TN. I think it would be great to see a doxie parade maybe with little red wagons done up like a float. OMG that would be too cute. Hmmmm....maybe I could do something like that myself. OK OK I need to wake up more:coffee:

Good luck to you and it sounds like you have some great ideas already.
