An incredible day in Halifax!!!!

Ok, first of all, no pics yet...still waiting for them to be downloaded :sorry:. But I am SO jazzed I had to say something...I held the first Annual CDR Oktober Wienie Fest this afternoon. I was expecting there to be maybe 20 dogs there, including the 7 CDR adoptees and their hoomans. Man oh man oh man oh man.....we lost count at 75 dogs, and I don't know how many people. It was just incredible...I didn't think there were that many dachsies in Nova Scotia, never mind just in the Halifax area!!! We raised over $500, found a home for one of our fosters with a previous CDR adopter, got 3 foster home apps (all sounding pretty good :crossfin:), 2 adoption apps, a ton of inquiries, and 42 people who are interested in forming a meet-up. Simply amazing...I'm still on a high!!! :woohoo: Sadly, ambassadachsie Alex had to stay home, cuz crowds are definitely not her thing :sosad: But she was with us in spirit, I know!!!

EXCELLENT!!! I know how hard you worked on the event and to have such a turnout is remarkable. I bet you are floating on cloud 9, I have goosebumps and I wasn't even there. Our annual doxie fundraiser brought close to 100 doxies the first time I volunteered and I still talk about being in one place with so many of the greatest dogs. Talk about entertaining, it was heaven. You have inspired many people today, good job.:appl: :appl:

PAULA!! Wonderful news! Wonderful day! I'm thinking Cat and I need to get information from you and do something similar! Not this October, but next... would you be willing to share information? Could you email us? What you did, how you raised money, etc.? We need to start planning some fundraisers and start having our own "get togethers" for adoptive families and people interested in adoption.
