Laika and Owen and I had another agility trial this past weekend. There were five runs each day. OWEN qualified in NINE of the ten runs he did!!!!!!!!!!!
He is in level FIVE (Last level!!!) Jumpers already!!! Level FOUR Standard (and he got a level 4 standard Q Saturday!!!) He only started agility last winter and started trialing this past spring!! I swear it is karma cuz I do not practice with him a whole lot (he doesn't like to work in the backyard much). It's like all the hard work I put into Laika is paying off with Owen :)
And he LOVES to trial. Laika freaked out at trials for prob. 6 months when she started and is only now, after 2 1/2 years really comfortable running anywhere I take her. Of course I'm a better handler now than when I started with Laika....
Laika ran 9 runs and got 5 Q's. She got into barking mode Friday and kept it up. I asked my friend to run her finally cuz I thought the novelty of running with Becky would keep Laika's mind on agility and off barking. It worked. She ran beautifully for her and it was so much fun to watch her run. She got two more Q's that count toward her Championship (she's done with some areas so those Q's are extra).
It was tons of fun with so many nice people...lots of laughs and of course lots of gorgeous dogs running agility. Another dachshund (Beamer) came Saturday and he ran really well. He jumps 4 inches so he doesn't compete against my weens who jump 8. ONe cute moment (I WISH I would have taken the camera) was Salsa meeting Eli. Eli is a 2 year old Newfoundland and he is HUGE. 140 pounds. He ran Jumpers but he just went out and did all the tunnels and visited the ring crew. EW! He DROOLS. BIG TIME!
Salsa could perch on his head no problem. She wasn't afraid of him at all. The Weens hate him cuz he's big.
