    Default One eye?

I'm not so sure that Piper can see very well (or at all?) out of her left eye. I've noticed just recently that it reflects light very differently than her right. There's a yellow hue that fills that eye, while the other stays dark. It reminds me a lot of Odin's eyes (my blind foster.) I tried to do some tests, holding one hand over each eye and having her follow a toy, and she was definitely stronger on her right.

I just went back and studied old pictures, and the different eyes seemed to start after we moved. She's due for her annual, so I'll have the vet check it out.

There is a condition called Retinal Dysplasia in dogs, and it occurs frequently with labs. There is no treatment. The site I looked at said that it can mean minor vision impairments to blindness.

It doesn't scare me that she may be blind in one eye. It certainly hasn't slowed her down, and I'm not worried about it, I just thought I'd share.

Curious... could it be cataracts? I was thinking that my mom's old chi/poo mix had cataracts during her last few years and they looked kind of gray and cloudy.

Whatever it is, I'm glad that it's not affecting her seriously. Big hug for the pretty girl!

I'm pretty sure its not cataracts. Her eye doesn't look cloudy at all, it just reflects a lot more light than her right.

I went back and looked at older pictures, and there's always been a slight difference between her left and right eye, its just more noticeable now.

Pogo has always had messed up eyes. I am not sure what his vision is. All my dogs have brown eyes, Pixel's eyes always photograph blue and Pretzie eyes always photograph red and Pepsi are green?

If it is something that can be corrected, cool. But like you, I don't really stress too much about vision. Smell is where it's at

Still some rayz for your gal.

Miller's eyes have always been a slightly off color and since he scratched the one he has a opaque spot in it. He seems to be able to "see around" it pretty well, but I know he has blind spots. I've seen him run into the open crate doors and one day when I was on the side of him he turn and ran into me. It doesn't seem to bother him or slow him down at all and I think he's gradually adapting to it. I haven't noticed him running into things lately. Dogs are amazingly adaptable and do just fine with limited sight or hearing. Like Lisa says smell is where it's at!
